I was born in South Africa and started painting seriously after completing a drawing course in 2002.ÌýAfter following my husband to Surrey, just over two years ago, I fell in love with England and I'm here to stay, in Northamptonshire.

Inspiration

Every day I rise in awe of the palette God provides for us, he's still the Master Artist and IÌýtake joy in trying to capture snippets of what He's provided (assisted by my trusty digital camera).

My favourite paintings are scenes that make you want to be there, like 'Breakfast Run - In The Okavango', or 'Zebras Fighting', where you can almost hear their "barking". What about the deafening silence of a dawn over 'Lake of Menteith'?

Having started in water colours, I've moved into oils because of the way the colours can "melt" into each other, like nature does.

Achievements

Having always enjoyed sketching, it was inevitable that I would take it seriously. It started when, as a teenager, I painted the walls of our garage with nursery rhymes for my sisters, and more recently painted an entire bedroom wall for two of my grandchildren.ÌýHowever, my parents believed you needed a conventional career, so I worked in advertising and publishing, got married, had children, got divorced and finallyÌýmet the man of my dreams who this year said: "take a year off and paint pictures".

I've never achieved so much in such a short time before.

So here are some of my paintings as I look forward to developing my style and improving daily, learning more and more on this exciting journey. In the meantime, they need to be framed, soÌýwe're going to open a picture framing shop where I can paint every day in between seeing clients andÌýframing their art or special memories.
