18:30 eclipse.
18:30: Good weather conditions meant UK residents
had their clearest view of a lunar eclipse for a decade
 
18:40 eclipse.
18:40: The Moon begins to darken as it starts to
move into the Earth's shadow
 
18:55 eclipse.
18:55: The last lunar eclipse visible in the UK was
on January 21 2000 at 0400GMT
 
19:20 eclipse.
19:20: Although not of great scientific importance,
a lunar eclipse is an impressive spectacle of nature
 
19:50 eclipse.
19:50: Just before totality - only a sliver of the moon
can be seen
 
eclipse ends.

After about an hour when no sunlight hit the
moon, its outline appears again. The next time Britain will have a view of a total lunar eclipse will be November 2003.
