The Boy Will Drown, a metal band from Norwich, have signed to the world renowned Earache record label.

"We loved Earache Records since we were 12 or 13 years old. It's a bit of a dream come true to go on a label for the music you've always listened to," said lead singer Tom Bates.

The band were lucky enough to get spotted while playing a gig in the Midlands, although the gig didn't go as planned.

"They came and saw us when we played Nottingham. It was one of the worst shows we've ever played - everything which could have gone wrong, did go wrong. My amp broke before we even got there, the drum kit fell apart - and they loved it," said guitarist Liam Keeler.

"They took us out for lunch, sent us a contract, we got it checked by a lawyer and here we are," he added.

Debut album

The band will travel to Poland where they will record their debut album.

"We're going over to Hertz Studios to record an album on the 26, October and stay there until November. We're hoping to release it around February time [2009]," said Liam.

The Boy Will Drown don't often play in and around Norwich as they feel there isn't a great Metal scene in the city.

"I don't think people really care a lot about it [metal music] around here," said Liam.

With their new album on the way and a big record label behind them, the band will hope their fans don't suffer from ear-ache listening to the new album.
