When asked where the latest gigs are playing in Norfolk, the typical answer would be in Norwich. But on Saturday, 30 August Loddon takes the central stage for artistic talent.

The acts

Loddon is traditionally seen as a small market town situated within the Norfolk broads. But after the local parish and youth council put their heads together, they decided they should organise a festival to celebrate the town’s creativity.

S.C.U.M Gothic Punk Band

After months of preparing, the festival will feature musical acts such as S.C.U.M from London, and local bands: My Boy My Girl, Rupert, Black-Outs and The Kabeedies - who played at this year’s Glastonbury.

The line-up will also include a collection of poetry delivered by Latitude's favourite Luke Wright, Yanny Mac and John Osborne. There will also be a display of artwork from local artists.

Steve Hogarth, 18, who is one ofÌý the organisers of the event told Â鶹ԼÅÄ Norfolk Introducing that Loddon has a lot of talent but it's not always recognised.

"There's not many gigs, but there is a lot of bands, there is a lot for a small area," he said.

"Everything happens in Norwich, but everyone is from everywhere," he added.ÌýÌý

Since the event is not taking place in the city, trying to get everything organised has not been easy.

"We started in April and it has gone so quick. It has taken a lot of effort," said Steve.

New radio station

The festival will also be celebrating the launch of a Loddon based radio station, Plugged Radio. Twenty five teenagers have been working together for a year and a half to organise the station.

All the volunteers are between 12 and 25 years old and want to provide a service that could potentially change the lives of young people living in the Chet Valley area of Norfolk.

The team are going to start out as an internet radio station, then hopefully move to getting an FM community license.

Their aim at this year's festival is to achieve funding and support. Loddon Out Loud will hopefully help spread their presence.
