Louise Miles: 'My aim is to entertain'

This summer Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Blast will be sending out sports, arts and news reporters all over the UK to cover stories in their local area. Louise Miles will be keeping her finger on the pulse of youth arts in Norfolk.

I’m Louise Miles, Blast Arts Reporter for Norfolk, and I am here to entertain you with a whole host of events.

I will be working hard this summer to bring you the latest news on top arty events happening across Norfolk. Watch this space...

About me

I am 21 years old and have just graduated in English and media studies.

"Ever since I was 12 years old, I have wanted to be a journalist! "

Louise Miles

I'll admit, I'm an Essex girl - no white stilettos of course! Dragged up in Romford, Essex, IΜύmoved to the East of England in 2006.

So far I have really enjoyed the experience, but am still on the lookout for new places to visit, especially on the arts scene.

I believe that there is a lot of talent in Norfolk and it needs to be embraced.

Norfolk is an extremely creative place to live, work and study and my role is to celebrate this fact!

My passion

Ever since I was 12 years old, I have wanted to be a journalist.

I have a real passion for writing and appreciate stories with energy, enthusiasm and power!

ΜύI find it amazing that without the media, we would not know about things happening in the world!

So, you are probably wondering at this point how I am hoping to crack into the competitive media world.

Well, as a graduate I knew I needed to get professional experience. I have worked on student radio, hospital radio and community radio.

ΜύBut, I still needed that Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ training to shine on my CV.

After hearing about the Blast reporter scheme, I knew that this was the perfect opportunity for me to gain some essential skills.

It is a fantastic opportunity for young people and just what I needed to fulfil my writing bug over the summer.

I love music!

Apart from gaining as much journalistic experience as possible, I enjoy an array of activities including yoga, poetry and theatre, but my real passion is music.

I play the violin and guitar and enjoy listening to new music. I love finding out about new bands before anyone else.

So if you're interested in letting me know about your band, or anything arts- related, please leave a comment.

Favourite Stuff

Colour: Purple

Band: The Libertines (even though they have split up!)

Programme: Never Mind the Buzzcocks!

Film: Forrest Gump (because it is all about achievement)
