Scene from The Passion

The story of Jesus' last days has been told in an epic drama, The Passion, for Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ One.

Starring Joseph Mawle (Jesus), James Nesbitt (Pontius Pilate) and Paul Nicholls (Judas), the story is rooted in the city of Jerusalem during Passover week and places us at the heart of the action by telling the story from three points of view - the religious authorities, the Romans and Jesus.

It follows Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem, which fulfilled Old Testament prophesies and had Him hailed as the long awaited Messiah, through to His betrayal, trial and crucifixion.

Norfolk on the Passion

In Norfolk, Christians have been sharing their thoughts on what the Passion means to them, including the Revd Jan McFarlane, chaplain to the Bishop Of Norwich.

She said: "I didn't go to church as a child, but as a teenager someone said to me that if I had been the only person in the world who would have benefitted from Jesus' death and resurrection, he would still have gone ahead with it - for me.

"That's how much God loves me. That's how much God loves every single one of us and Easter has been so very important to me since then.

"It's the knowledge that no matter how badly I mess up my life (and believe me, I do) God will still love me and forgive me, and he'll help me to pick myself up and to dive straight back in to this complicated business called life with a clean slate and a fresh start.

"And if God treats me like that, who am I to do anything other than to treat others in the same way? It's called unconditional love. And it's life-changing," she said.
