Classic comedy day out

A host of stars from Dad's Army, Hi-di-Hi, You Rang M'Lord and It Ain't Half Hot Mum will be revealing their tales of life on the sets at Bressingham Steam Museum on Sunday 14 May 2006.

Comedy and nostalgia are coming together for a day celebrating the TV sitcoms penned by David Croft and Jimmy Perry.

Some of the country's best-loved actors will entertain fans of the cult programmes at Bressingham Steam Museum in south Norfolk at the weekend.

Clive Dunn, who played Lance Corporal Jones in Dad's Army, will be travelling from his home in Portugal - with Bill Pertwee, Ian Lavender, Pam Cundell, Jeffrey Holland and Linda Regan also expected.

In keeping with the theme, the stars are due to arrive on board an old coach, before making fans chuckle with their stories of what it was like to work on the programmes.

In previous years, some of the actors have treated fans to impromptu performances of old scenes from the family favourites.

Visitors will also have the chance to take pictures of the stars and collect autographs during the event which runs from 11.30am until 3pm.

Organiser Tony Pritchard, secretary of the Dad's Army Appreciation Society, said the event has become well established in the county's calendar.

"I think it's wonderful the support we get from these actors," he said.

"We often hear them talking when they get together and it's like a reunion for them," he added.

For some of the actors, it will be a trip down memory lane with many Dad's Army scenes filmed in the county and an exhibition devoted to the programme at the Bressingham venue.
