Voices: This Norfolk Life

A rainbow
A rainbow

You

by Paulene Guise
"I’ve had the last two lines of the poem in my head for some time," explained Paulene about the piece she wrote for This Norfolk Love.

Your smile can light my life with golden sun
And take my heart to where the rainbows run
In colours impossible to view
For those who do not love you as I do.

Exploding reds of passion tempered by
The melting charcoal softness of a sigh
Can paint my world in shades of richest hue
In the kaleidoscope of colour that is you.

In milkiness of moonlight when we brush
I feel the honeyed softness of your touch
And in the iridescence of your kiss
My inner self implodes in burnished bliss.

The liquid amber tints within your eyes
Contain the cerulean of my skies
You are my green, my gold, my cobalt blue
My saffron sun, my every-shaded you.

Don't leave my life to blacks and whites and greys
For you are all the colour of my days.
