If you've ever fancied yourself as a budding Stewart White or Julie Reinger, you'll get a chance to see what it's like to be in front of the TV cameras with the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ and Norfolk County Council at the Royal Norfolk Show, 2005.

The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ is creating a live television stage at stand 259 and weather presenter Julie Reinger will be there to help you through presenting an edition of Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Look East. "We'll be looking for volunteers to try their hand at reading the news and presenting the weather forecast using the new animated graphics" said Julie. "It'll be a your chance to have a go at presenting a complete Look East bulletin, similar to what you see everyday on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ1. "We'll be looking for a newsreader and weather presenter to take part in the routine and everyone brave enough to give it a go gets to keep a tape of their performance. "It could be just the screen-test you've always wanted," she added. Doctor Who Fans of Doctor Who are in for a treat at this year's show. The TARDIS will materialise inside the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ stand and the Doctor's arch-enemies, the Daleks, will be roaming on the showground. You might also run into a Cyberman! Norfolk based actor Terry Molloy, who played Davros the evil creator of the Daleks in three seasons of the classic TV series, will be on stage on both days to answer questions and sign autographs at the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Shop.

Terry admits that playing the role of Davros was hard work. "Physically it was one of the most demanding jobs I've ever done. The chariot was solid wood with car batteries on a supermarket trolley frame – it was awful, quite awful. [He laughs] "That aside, the actual doing of it was great fun. It was interesting to see how people reacted to me when I got into the mask," he added. Live radio Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Norfolk will be broadcasting from the showground on both days. Roy Waller will be getting a flavour of the show during his morning programme from 9am on Wednesday 29 June. Graham Barnard will be on-air from the showground on Thursday 30 June from 2pm and visitors to the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Studio will be able to meet all their favourite Radio Norfolk presenters. Main ring events This year's Royal Norfolk Show will have a Nelson theme and includes a number of Grand Ring events for the bicentenary celebrations. The Nelson's Farewell To Norfolk pageant features a cast of 80. The event sees Nelson entering the ring in a horse-drawn carriage to music played by The Band of The Dragoon Guards to bid his official farewell to the county as he leaves for Portsmouth to join HMS Victory.

Volunteers have already been recruited to play the role of the East Norfolk Militia who will take on the role of Nelson's guard of honour and will be joined by 95th Rifles Regiment of Foot and Ninth East Norfolk Regiment of Foot. The militia will be camping in a wooded area on the edge of the showground which will be open to the public to show an authentic militia encampment. Local heros For the second year running, the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ is teaming up with Norfolk County Council at the showground, offering something for everyone and celebrating local heroes. In keeping with the Nelson theme of this year's show, Lord Nelson will be commemorated in the marquee by information about walks in Norfolk's countryside around the Nelson Trail. They'll be the opportunity to discover information about Nelson lodged in the county's archive centre and to take part in a competition with the county council's trading standards team - demonstrating the change in weights and measures today from those Lord Nelson would have been familiar with. Visitors to the showground can also put themselves forward as a local hero, by way of becoming a volunteer. Information on volunteering and 'come and try sessions' throughout the county will be available on the stand.
