This Norfolk Life: Everlasting Love

By Mark Tateile
"I was inspired by the winters in my village and the love in my heart," said 22-year-old Mark Tateile of his poem.

Wintertime in Norfolk,
Is like a seasonal postcard.
An image is only half the story,
But memories make it whole.

Children playing in the snow.
Their shouts echo over the hills.
But apart from their joyful laughter,
Everywhere else is still.

My beloved walks beside me,
To the place where our love became true,
But the special place in my heart,
Where I will love no other but you.

Although our photos are wonderful,
And our memories better still.
It is only my beloved Beatrice,
Who can make my life a whole.

Story laureate Sue Welfare writes: Wonderful, nice imagery and use of language. Love is ageless and this poem works as well from someone in their 20s as in their 80s.
