Just days after it was released, Inside 2 has claimed a place in the record book.

Over the weekend, the movie made an estimated $295m (£232.6m) globally, landing it the title of the biggest global opening by an animated film.

The movie, which is a follow-up to 2015's Inside Out continues the story of Riley as she develops new emotions like envy and anxiety.

Inside Out 2 joins a growing list of record-breaking children's films.

We took a look at some of the others...

Last year, Barbie topped the charts as the highest-grossing (earning) movie of 2023.

The Warner Bro's movie has been the only movie since its release to debut above $100million. However, Inside Out 2 has now joined it.

Barbie still holds some impressive records, including one for its director, Greta Gerwig, who holds the title for the highest-grossing female director of all time.

Back in 2018, Incredibles 2 had a huge opening weekend and made $231 million globally.

This put it in the top spot for animated films globally until Inside Out 2 took its spot this weekend.

While it wasn't 'incredible' for the film to be knocked off the global top spot, it still holds the title of the best-opening Pixar movie in North America.

2019's version of The Lion King currently holds the top spot as the biggest grossing kids movie of all time.

Meaning it made the most money!

The film isn't animated in a traditional sense and its one of Disney's live-action remakes.

A bit of a different record for this one....

Last year, a new Guinness World Record was broken for the most dogs attending a film screening.

219 dogs joined their owners to watch PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie.
