Would you rather wear trainers and joggers as a school uniform?

School uniforms can be pretty formal with clothing such as shirts, blazers, smart shoes and even ties.

But a school in Bristol has decided to bring in a more relaxed uniform with the aim of allowing pupils to be more active during the day.

The primary school introduced an outdoor exercise scheme alongside regular PE lessons and has bought in an 'active uniform' including tracksuit bottoms, shorts under skirts, and trainers.

Does your school have a more relaxed uniform or is it more traditional? Let us know what you think of the idea in the comments below.

What is an active uniform?

Summerhill Academy say their 'active uniform' means pupils can be comfortable at all times and active at any possibility.

The school also says it means children aren't just active during PE lessons, but can also exercise at break and even during lessons.

Uniform items include black jogging bottoms, shorts, trousers and a sports shirt.

Shoes are black but should be trainers or plimsoles rather than traditional shoes.

The principal of Summerhill Academy, Chris Barrett, told Newsround:

"Children love not having to get changed into PE kit in school - an active uniform saves their embarrassment, removes that barrier from them accessing physical activity in school, and saves learning time to get on with the lessons. It works all round."

Would you like to have a uniform which you can be active in?

Or do you think jogging bottoms should only be worn for PE?
