Comedy Wildlife Awards 2023: Kangaroo playing air guitar wins competition

We wonder what song this kangaroo is rocking out to? Jason Moore's picture of a miming marsupial playing air guitar in a field outside Perth, Australia has been voted the funniest photo in The Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards 2023. The judges said "Air Guitar Roo" was "so well deserved and a very popular winner indeed".
"Otter" graceful pose this cheeky river resident is striking. Do you think it knew it was being photographed? The photo is suitably named Ballerina Otter and was taken in Singapore.
Slapstick falling-over routines have long been a staple of physical comedy. This heron appears to have badly mistimed its entry into the water but won Vittorio Ricci the Creatures of the Air Award for his photo named "Unexpected Plunge".
Now, what do you make of this by Jacek Stankiewicz? Titled 'Dispute', it won the People's Choice award and is the first time the award has been won by a junior photographer. "To have a junior entrant win this major prize is extremely rewarding for us. We want more juniors to enter," the judges said. Well done Jacek.
Urgh, stinky, what's that smell? It's not me...is it? Delphine Casimir's monkey snap earned them a highly commended from the judges.
Perhaps it's the winter blues, but this owl is looking seriously down in the dumps. It earned the photographer, John Blumenkamp, a highly commended rating, so at least he has something to smile about.
A master of disguise, this puffed up white bird looks just like a snowball - which is also the name the photographer Jacques Poulard chose for his picture. We wonder if he's ever played Where's Wally?
