Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is at the top of a teachers' list of books "all children should read before leaving primary school".

The list of must-read novels has been selected by 500 teachers for the National Association for the Teaching of English and the TES magazine.

In the top 10, teachers have selected two Roald Dahl stories - Matilda as well as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

There are also a couple of traditional classics, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll and The Chronicles of Narnia by CS Lewis.

I would suggest the book Five Children and It by Edith Nesbit because, even though I have not read all of it, it is a great story so far. I would recommend it because it is it is exciting and there is a sand fairy that I'm sure anybody would like.

I think that the BFG by Roald Dahl and Boy in a Dress by David Walliams should be on the list as I love them so much and they are quite easy reads too.

I think that The Guinness World Record books should be on the list because they are funny, interesting, astonishing and educational (in some of the sections).
