JLS through the years - from 2008 to 2013

Who are these young lads? JLS first burst onto our screens in the 2008 X Factor. From left to right, they are Marvin Humes, Jonathan 'JB' Gill, Aston Merrygold and Oritse Williams. Originally they were called UFO but had to change their name to JLS as another band already existed with the same name. Did you know that JLS stood for Jack The Lad Swing?
The band were runners up to Alexandra Burke in the 2008 competition, but were the most successful finalists from that year. Other finalists Eoghan Quigg and Diana Vickers weren't so successful....
Now that's a move! Band member Marvin was no stranger to showing off his gymnastic skills performing back flips during stage performances. Their first two singles Beat Again and Everybody in Love both went to number one in the UK Singles Chart.
The band have their own charity called the JLS Foundation, and in 2010 released the official Children in Need single Love You More. It was their fourth number one single.
Golden boys! The band won three Brit Awards during their six-year career, out of six nominations. Here they are at the 2010 Brit Awards with their two awards for Best British Single and British Breakthrough Act.
They also won several awards at the Mobo awards: Best Song for Beat Again in 2009 and also Best Newcomer in the same year. In 2010 they won MOBOs for Best UK Act and Best Album. They also went on to win their fifth MOBO Award in 2012 by winning Best Video for Do You Feel What I Feel?
Something familiar about these toys... Launched in October 2010, the JLS dolls were a huge success and are now set to be collectors' items.
JLS were one of the dozens of acts that performed at the Queen's Diamond Jubilee concert outside Buckingham Palace in the summer of 2012. The event was organised by Gary Barlow to mark 60 years of the Queen's reign.
In April 2013 the lads announced their split with an official statement: "All that's left to say is the biggest THANK YOU for following us from day 1 and every day since then. You are truly the best fans in the world and we will always love you." Bye-bye JLS - you'll be missed.
