More people are living on Earth today than ever before.

The United Nations (UN) says the world's seven BILLIONTH baby was born in India on 31 October 2011.

The global population is growing by 200,000 people a day, and experts predict that by the end of this century it could reach 10 billion.

A lot of the increase is happening in parts of Africa, where, if nothing changes, the population of Zambia is predicted to triple by the end of 2099.

The UN now want world leaders to meet to work out how to tackle problems caused by a growing population, including the increased pressure on essential supplies of food, water and fuel.

By the end of the century, the number of people in China, Brazil and Europe is expected to decrease and India is predicted to overtake China as the most populated country on Earth.
