A Victorian cemetery in north Wales has won a £1.1m grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

The cash will be spent on conserving Wrexham Cemetery's buildings and refurbishing the listed fences and entrances.

The cemetery is on Cadw's register of Wales' historic parks and gardens.

Wrexham councillor David Bithell said: "Wrexham Cemetery is part of the heritage of Wrexham and is very important to the community."
