Anti-social tenants risk being pushed to the bottom of a council's home improvement list if they do not behave.

Flintshire council will discussing possible penalties for residents, including prioritising "good" tenants over those with complaints against them.

The new policy is aimed at strengthening the council's commitment to tackling anti-social behaviour.

The cabinet will discuss the issue on Tuesday.

North Wales Police and the Community Safety Team will work with the council to identify risk and highlight cases where urgent intervention may be required.

It also proposes taking a tougher stance on tenants dealing in illegal drugs from their home.

Residents who are violent, drop litter, keep untidy gardens and have nuisance pets also face being placed at the bottom of the repairs and improvements list.

Cabinet member for housing Councillor Helen Brown said: "Tenants tell us that feeling safe in their homes and neighbourhoods is, understandably, important to them.

"The new anti-social behaviour policy, if adopted, will underpin our commitment to tenants to ensure that we deal with the problem of anti-social behaviour both swiftly and robustly."
