The family of an 80-year-old woman who died in hospital after she was hit by a car have said she was "a caring soul with a huge zest for life".

Pamela Griffiths, known as Pam, was struck on Albany Road in Roath, Cardiff on 22 December.

She was taken to the city's University Hospital of Wales where she died two days later.

Ms Griffiths' family described her as "a beautiful friend with a heart of gold".

They said she lived in Roath for most of her life, went walking every day and enjoyed meeting friends for lunch every week and going to St Michael's Church every Sunday.

In a statement, they added: "She loved nothing more than spending quality time with her daughter Amanda, son in-law Carl, three grandchildren, Daniel, Chloe and Chelsea and three great-grandchildren Cameron, Ruben and Mila.

"She had the kindest nature, always seeing the good in everything, making time for everyone and putting them first, ensuring that all around her in her company were happy, nothing was ever to much trouble, if she felt she could help anyone in any way she would

"A light has gone out in our lives and a hole left so big that can never be filled, we as a family are heartbroken beyond measure."

South Wales Police is investigating the collision.
