Pink Cardiff street lights plan 'to deter Asbo yobs'

Anti-social behaviour on a Cardiff estate could be tackled by the installation of pink lighting to show up teenagers' acne.
The idea would be to deter yobs at a parade of shops in the city's Fairwater district where five arrests have been made and 18 Asbos issued in six weeks.
Councillor and resident Neil McEvoy said: "People's lives are being made a misery."
South Wales Police said street lighting decisions were for the local authority.
Mr McEvoy said the prospect of the pink lighting was raised at a Pact (Police and Communities Together) meeting, where residents were told it has been used successfully as a deterrent elsewhere.

It has been used on a housing estate in Nottinghamshire and by police in Preston, Lancashire.
Mr McEvoy said: "The area were talking about has been a Pact priority for about four years.
"If this has been successful in other areas, I would like to have a look at it if it can help the local residents to live a more peaceful life.
"We're not just talking about the shops, residents in that area have been plagued by anti-social behaviour.
"If the evidence stacks it up, let's have a look at a crack at it."
In a statement, South Wales Police said: "Any additional or change in street lighting would be a decision for the local authority.
"The local neighbourhood policing team continues to work with partners and be proactive in preventing crime and anti social behaviour in the Fairwater area."
