MP warns of fuel protest return

The rise in VAT is being felt by motorists in Wales, with higher prices at the pumps.

The haulage industry says it is struggling to survive, and Welsh MP Elfyn Llwyd warns the country could return to the fuel blockades seen a decade ago.

Conservatives in Wales insist any relief scheme cannot be rushed and they want to put something in place that is sustainable, fair to hauliers and consumers.

Danny Alexander, the chief secretary to the Treasury, said the UK Government was looking into a proposed "fair fuel stabiliser" to see if they could reduce the burden of fuel duty.
