Consultation on closure of Drochduil Primary School

Plans have been drawn up to close a Wigtownshire primary school at the end of this academic year.

Just three children go to , which serves the village of Dunragit, near Stranraer.

Councillors have been told that a review of the demographics of the area suggests there is will be no demand for the school in the future.

They have been asked to agree to a statutory consultation on plans to close the primary school.

The remaining children at Drochduil will transfer to another school in July 2016, according to .

It means there will be no pupils at the school in the 2016/17 academic year unless there are new enrolments.

Earlier this week the education authority recommended the closure of St Peter's Primary in Dalbeattie, which has a roll of seven pupils.
