Kemo Porter in court over Leicester family house fire deaths

An inquest into the deaths of the family has been opened and adjourned

A man has appeared in court charged with murdering four members of a family in a house fire.

Kemo Porter, 18, of Browning Street, Leicester, faced Leicester Magistrates' Court after being charged on Thursday.

Mr Porter spoke only to confirm his name and that he understood the charges. He was remanded in custody.

Shehnila Taufiq, 47, her sons Jamal, 15, and Bilal, 17, and daughter Zainab, 19, died in the fire in Wood Hill, Leicester, last week.

An inquest into the deaths has also been opened and adjourned.
