Lancaster fire: Crews tackle blaze at waste premises

Firefighters have been tackling a large blaze at a business premises in Lancaster.

Plumes of smoke were seen coming from the building, which contains commercial waste, in Port Royal Avenue, Lancaster at about 05:30 GMT.

No injuries have been reported, Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said.

It advised residents to keep their windows and doors shut if they could smell smoke.

Ten fire engines from Lancashire and Cumbria responded and nearby roads were temporarily shut for safety.

Emergency services said they were working to make the site safe and advised people to stay away from the area.
