An 80-year-old woman has died at an address in Droitwich, Worcestershire prompting a murder inquiry.

Emergency services were called to a home in Alexander Avenue just before 08:15 GMT on Friday.

An 81-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder. He is currently receiving hospital treatment.

Officers said the pair were known to each other and there was no wider risk to the community.

A man in his 40s was also taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition, West Mercia Police said.

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said three ambulance crews and a paramedic were deployed to the scene, but that it quickly became clear that the woman could not be saved and was confirmed dead at the scene.

Two male male patients were treated at the scene and taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital.
