Newport: Man and dog die in Isle of Wight crash
A man and his dog have died following a crash on the Isle of Wight.
Police said a blue Mazda 6 crashed into a tree on Calbourne Road, Newport, at about 22:10 BST on Sunday.
The driver of the car, a 42-year-old man from the town, died at the scene. His family have been notified and are being supported by specialist officers.
The dog, which was travelling in the car, was taken to an emergency vet following the crash but had to be put down due to its injuries.
Police want witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
