Thieves have returned five kittens stolen during a burglary in Essex by posting them through the letterbox.

The one-day-old animals were taken from a house on Essex Avenue, Jaywick, last week.

An appeal was made for their return as it was thought the kittens would die if taken away from their mother.

During the weekend they were posted through the owner's letterbox, but one had already died. No arrests have been made in connection with the burglary.
