Carlisle pair hurt when car was driven at them, court told

A man and a woman were badly injured when a car was deliberately driven at them, a court has heard.
Police found the pair hurt when they responded to a report of fighting in a residential street in Carlisle shortly after 06:00 on Tuesday 24 October.
Five men and one woman appeared at the city's crown court charged with grievous bodily harm with intent, actual bodily harm and affray.
A trial will be held in May, with all male defendants remanded in custody.
The woman was released on bail.
The court was told the injured pair, both in their 40s, were found in Gloucester Road, in the Currock area of Carlisle, having suffered fractures.
They were taken to hospital for treatment and later released.
A prosecutor alleged a car had been used as a weapon to attack them.
The charges were put to five of the six defendants, who are aged 33 to 45, with each of them pleading not guilty.
