More than 70 students were evacuated after a gas leak in Coventry.

A faulty gas pipe under Greyfriars Lane was repaired after firefighters were called to an area near The Squirrel pub at 20:30 GMT on Friday.

Students in accommodation on High Street were evacuated as a precaution but later returned, the fire service said.

The leak was made safe and after four fire engines were deployed, the final one left at about 07:00 GMT.

Two crews from Coventry and one each from Binley and Foleshill in the city were at the scene.
