A woman whose brother accessed Islamist extremist material on phones she had smuggled into his prison has been jailed for six months.

Rahimah De Silva, 24, of Olympic Close, Luton, transported phones, SIMs and chargers to Denny De Silva at HMP Woodhill in Milton Keynes.

She pleaded guilty at the Old Bailey to conspiring to convey articles into prison.

Her brother was sentenced in September after admitting related offences.

Counter Terrorism Policing South East (CTPSE) said the pair conspired to transport phones into the prison between August 2020 and January 2021.

Denny De Silva, who was sentenced to a minimum of 27 years in prison of murder in 2016, had been using the phones to access and disseminate Islamist extremist material.

In July, he pleaded guilty to two counts of dissemination of a terrorist publication, contrary to Section 2 of the Terrorism Act 2006, and one count of conspiring to convey List B articles into prison under section 40C of the Prison Act 1952.

He was sentenced to 45 months' imprisonment.
