Ambulance workers take strike ballot

Ambulance workers in Bristol, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire and parts of Somerset are being balloted over possible strike action.

Great Western Ambulance Service says it wants to stagger shift changes to increase efficiency and reduce its reliance on private ambulances.

But some staff say it will mean some shifts starting at anti-social times, and one break in 12 hours.

There would have to be a second ballot before any industrial action is taken.
