A contestant on Channel 4 show First Dates had viewers in tears when she took off her wig mid-date.

Eve Betts told the man she was having dinner with, Jordan, that she'd had alopecia since she was three.

The 22-year-old was inspired to reveal her bald head after her date said that he used to have a topknot (or a man bun to most people).

Jordan, from Pontypool, south Wales, said he preferred Eve without her wig and that she was "beautiful".

"This is probably the weirdest date I've ever been on," the beauty therapist told him after taking it off.

During a break in the ladies loo, Eve revealed that she'd been bullied in the past for how she looked.

"One of the main reasons I wanted to do beauty was because I went through school and I was bullied. I didn't have any eyebrows.

Eve told the barman that she hadn't had a boyfriend for more than three years

"I don't ever feel upset about it. [But] it's really hard. My parents have to save really hard for me to have nice hair.

"My dad, he works so hard. He drew on my first set of eyebrows. I'd love somebody like my dad - a bit taller, but he's got no hair like me, so somebody with a bit more hair to give our kids a chance."

Eve, who's from Pontyrhyl near Bridgend, and Jordan didn't go on a second date.

That's despite him calling her "unique" and that she suited her bald head, after she'd taken her wig off.

Alopecia is a condition that affects around one in every 100 people in the UK and can cause severe, patchy baldness that is difficult to treat.

And the internet was mainly in tears after Tuesday night's episode.
