US actor Charlie Sheen has told a US TV station the only drug he's on at the moment is "called Charlie Sheen."

The 45-year-old is America's highest paid TV actor for his role in hit comedy Two And A Half Men, but the show has stopped filming when he went into rehab in January.

Speaking to ABC News, the star said he now planned to sue the show's makers.

He went on to laugh off questions about his mental health, saying: "I'm not bi-polar, I'm bi-winning."

During the interview he smoked, played with a piece of red wire and gave bizarre answers.

"I am on a drug called Charlie Sheen," he told the ABC reporter, when asked about substance abuse.

"It's not available because if you try it once you will die, your face will melt off, and your children will weep over your exploded body."

The star, who earns a reported $2m (£1.2m) per episode of Two And A Half Men, went on to say that he was confident he had a case against CBS.

"I'm going to sue them for tonnes - I'm here to collect and they're going to lose.

The row about Two And A Half Men intensified last week when the star criticised its producer on US radio - causing CBS to halt filming indefinitely.

Warner Brothers bosses - who make Two and a Half Men - say they've paid the crew for four of the cancelled episodes.

Charlie Sheen says he'll keep on giving interviews until they're paid in full.

He also then ridiculed suggestions that he was suffering from mental health problems.

"My brain fires in a way that is not maybe from this particular terrestrial realm," he said.

The actor has been in trouble with the law twice in recent months - he was sentenced to 30 days of drug and alcohol rehab after pleading guilty to assault in August 2010.

In October 2010 he voluntarily underwent a psychiatric evaluation after being accused of damaging a New York hotel room.

The star passed a urine test for drugs which ABC News carried out after the interview.
