Still hope for X Factor rejects

  • Published

FYD and Nicolo Festa may have had their X Factor dreams shattered in the first week of evictions, but they tell Newsbeat it is not all over yet.

Italian Nicolo got the least number of public votes so was automatically kicked off the show.

Boyband FYD were left in the bottom against 24-year old Katie Wassiel and tried to save themselves with Rihanna's Don't Stop The Music .

All judges, except their mentor Simon, decided to save Katie.

Nicolo told Newsbeat he was devastated to be the first off the show.

"It was terrible. I just listened back to the track on iTunes. And I feel very ashamed. It was just the wrong song, its not in my style. Its just so far from who I am, over the top.

"We just did it because, we agreed it would have been a crowd pleaser because everyone knows the song.

But if it had been only my call I never would have sang it. Of course I agreed to do it, but that's different.

Download tracks

Fans can now download the weekly performances from each act after the show. Nicolo wasn't too happy about that.

Nicolo also said: "I'd rather if people didn't buy that track because its absolutely horrible and I feel so mortified about that as well. I mean, I wouldn't buy it".

FYD, who had never performed together until their first audition for the show, said they would stay as a band.

Record deal

FYD's Matthew did reveal that there are already a few plans in the pipeline.

"We've actually had a couple of offers from producers and people who are interested which is great.

"Great to know that something is possibly in the pipeline which is really good.

"We're going to get the demo sorted, gigs and be on the lookout for a record deal.

"It would have been great to stay in the competition and it would have been amazing to win, but at the same time the aim was to try and get a record deal.

"And if this platform has helped us to do that, then that is really really amazing."
