Snow Patrol have joined the line-up for Manchester charity gig Versus Cancer.

As well as playing their usual anthemic songs, they'll also be doing a unique collaboration with the Â鶹ԼÅÄ Philharmonic Orchestra.

Snow Patrol's frontman, Gary Lightbody, said the band was "delighted to be involved" with the charity gig.

The concert, held at the MEN Arena in December, will raise money for local cancer patients, with the city's Christie Hospital one of the main beneficiaries.

Already on the bill are famous Manchester names like New Order's Peter Hook, Tim Booth from James, and The Smiths' Andy Rourke.

Organisers say more acts, including DJs, bands and comedians will be announced over the next few weeks.

Meanwhile Snow Patrol are getting ready to release their greatest hits collection, called Up To Now, which is out on 9 November.

The album will feature three new songs including upcoming single Just Say Yes.

Versus Cancer takes place on 12 December and tickets for the concert are on sale now.
