Â鶹ԼÅÄ Radio JerseyJersey's prison service has described how it tries to help people who have been convicted of child sex offences - ahead of a possible States debate on making sentences longer.
A has passed 5,000 signatures, meaning it must be considered for discussion by the States.
To help politicians, prison governor, Nick Cameron said prisoners are helped to find out why they committed their offences and what can be done to prevent them reoffending.
He added the prison's job is to deliver whatever sentence is ordered by the court and prepare prisoners for release.
The States Assembly has not yet released a date for the debate.

Â鶹ԼÅÄ News OnlineJersey athletes are up to four hours late leaving for the 2019 Island Games after flight delays.
One flight to Gibraltar was meant to leave the island at 09:00 but now isn't expected to take off until 13:00.
The 15:45 charter flight to Gibraltar for Team Jersey has also been delayed until 19:25.
More than 100 athletes are expected to fly from the island ahead of the opening ceremony on Saturday night.
A total of 2,000 athletes from 24 islands are expected to compete in the games.

Image source, States of AlderneyHistorian Dan Snow is visiting Alderney on Friday to investigate guns found in a quarry.
A local team discovered the Batterie Blucher guns over a year ago.
The K18 guns of 12/HKAR Batterie Blucher were involved in shelling allied shipping after the Normandy Landing on 6 June 1944.
At least one American vessel was sunk by fire from Alderney.
The guns also fired on American troops as they advanced up the Contentin Peninsula and as a result the battery was attacked by HMS Rodney.
Leader of the Channel Islands team, Simon Livesey, said they were "thrilled" to have Dan Snow on board.

The officers who between them have more than 100 years' worth of police experience were sworn in at a ceremony last night.
Head of Law Enforcement Rauri Hardy says the specialist skills the officers have can be put to good use in the Bailiwick.

Â鶹ԼÅÄ News OnlineA 33-year-old woman has been remanded in custody after appearing at Jersey's Magistrate's Court, charged with child neglect and immigration offences.
Jersey Police were alerted to the "suspicious landing" of a rubber dinghy with two children on board near St Catherine at about 8:00 on Tuesday.
Extradition proceedings are ongoing, for which the woman has been remanded in custody for four weeks.
Children's services are caring for a four-year-old girl and a three-year-old boy.
A 67-year-old woman and a man of the same age have also been released on bail.
They also appeared before the Magistrate on Thursday, charged with immigration offences and aiding and abetting.

Â鶹ԼÅÄ News OnlineAbout 170 Guernsey athletes are heading off to Gibraltar ahead of the 2019 Island Games.
Chairman of the Guernsey Island Games Association Brian Allen says finishing in the top six would be an excellent result, but that it's about more than just medals.
"Sometimes it's not been the medal count that's made it a successful games, it's been about developing stars coming through." he added.
Mr Allen said that a bronze medal won by a 14-year-old girl in 2017 was "better than many golds".

Â鶹ԼÅÄ News OnlineThe Women's Channel Islands League is extending ready for the upcoming season, the Jersey Football Association and the Guernsey Football Association has announced.
Launched as an experiment last year in Jersey, the league included one team from Guernsey.
For the first time, matches will be played in both islands and all six teams will play each other home and away.
Both associations have said the development of the competition is a significant step in the progress of the women's game in both islands.
The six teams involved will be Guernsey Ladies FC and North Ladies from Guernsey, and JTC Jersey Wanderers, St Lawrence, Rozel Rovers and Grouville from Jersey.
The season is expected to begin on 1 September, with the first round of inter-island matches primarily played between then and mid-October.
