Morrisons said it had been a "good" three months despite difficult market conditions

Supermarket group Morrisons has seen sales - excluding fuel - at stores open more than a year rise 2.4% in the three months to 30 October.

Total sales rose 4.6%, with Morrisons saying in a trading update it had seen "record numbers of customers".

Morrisons said it was "another good" quarter but remained "cautious" about the UK economy generally.

It added that the economic environment had "remained challenging" during the quarter.

Sales including fuel were 5.8% up for the quarter on a like-for-like basis.

This week, both Marks and Spencer and Sainsbury's have warned of the tough economic environment.
