Police support officer on fraud charge granted bail

A former police community support officer (PCSO) charged with fraud in connection with a compensation claim has been bailed after appearing in court.
Olivia Morphew, 24, is accused of perverting the course of justice, fraud and possession of a knife in a public place.
Surrey Police said the charges relate to an allegation of assault in Esher reported to the force in June 2022. It is alleged the PCSO stabbed herself and submitted a compensation claim for her injuries.
Morphew, from Hertford, who was based in Elmbridge, was granted unconditional bail when she appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.
Wearing a jacket and a white shirt, she spoke only to confirm her name and address.
The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) began an investigation following a referral from Surrey Police in July 2022.
Morphew resigned in September that year during the course of the police watchdog's inquiries.
She was bailed to appear at Southwark Crown Court for a plea and trial preparation hearing on 9 October.
