Two more people have been arrested as part of an investigation into the murder of a missing man.

Paul Taylor, 56, from Annan, Dumfries and Galloway, was last seen as he travelled to Carlisle on 17 October.

A 20-year-old man from Penrith and a 47-year-old woman from Carlisle were held on suspicion of assisting an offender after police visited two addresses on Tuesday. They remain in custody.

Two 19-year-old men from Carlisle who were previously arrested on suspicion of murder have since been released on bail.

A 37-year-old man, from Carlisle, and a 17-year-old boy, from Appleby, who were also earlier held on suspicion of assisting an offender have been bailed.

Cumbria Police upgraded its inquiry to a murder probe a month after Mr Taylor's disappearance.
