A horse has died after the stables it was in caught fire.

Essex County Fire & Rescue Service was called to Mill Street, Harlow, at 17:19 BST on Thursday.

Crews found that flames had spread to the building after a nearby muck heap "self-combusted" in the hot weather.

"We managed to extinguish the fire quickly, preventing it from spreading to the nearby field," watch manager Brenden Cardy said.
