Two charged with murder over city centre stabbing

Two men have been charged with murder by police investigating a stabbing in Canterbury city centre.

A 23-year-old man was found by emergency services in the High Street just before midnight on Thursday. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Kent Police.

Kemal Ibrahim, 24, of Long Acre Close, Canterbury, and Mohammed Hgar, 31, of no fixed address, have been charged with murder and possession of a bladed article in a public place.

The pair will appear at Maidstone Crown Court for a bail application on Wednesday.

Mr Ibrahim is also charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Two other men arrested in connection with the incident have been released on bail pending further inquiries.

Kent Police appealed for anyone with information to come forward or contact Crimestoppers anonymously.
