An outdoor market is to promote the work of local artists on a weekly basis, instead of monthly, due to the "overwhelming popularity and success" of the initiative.

Art Fridays have been taking place at Gloucester Green Market in Oxford.

"What began as a monthly celebration of art and culture has blossomed into a vibrant, weekly event that enriches the market experience for both traders and visitors," organisers said.

Artists can now apply for a pop-up canopy and table every Friday.

The original idea behind the fixture was to showcase the talents of local talents and enable them to engage with the community.

Siobhan Noake, from the market's operators LSD Promotions, said: "We are incredibly excited to expand Art Fridays to a weekly format.

"The community response has been phenomenal, and we’re thrilled to provide even more opportunities for local artists and makers to share their work and connect with the public."
