A sailor seriously injured during a race in the Fowey Royal Regatta remains in a stable but "very serious" condition, the RNLI has said.

Fowey RNLI said two boats collided during a race inside the harbour at about 15:45 BST on Wednesday.

It said a crew member at the front of one of the boats sustained "serious life-threatening injuries" which regatta safety medics and the Fowey lifeboat crew tended.

The charity said on Monday: "The casualty subsequently had urgent surgery and we understand he is now stable but in a very serious condition."

The organisers of the Fowey Royal Regatta said: "We have no further information at this point."
