Man arrested after assault with weapon on pier

A man has been arrested after being assaulted with a weapon on the pier in Bognor Regis.

A spokesperson for Sussex Police said officers were called to a report of people fighting at 18.50 BST on 31 March.

A 32-year-old man from Bognor Regis was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and he remains in custody.

The spokesperson also said an unidentified man suffered a serious injury during the incident but he has not yet been identified.

Det Insp Gary Jacobs added: “This is thought to be an isolated incident between people who were known to each other and does not pose a threat to the wider community.

“We would encourage anyone with any dashcam footage or CCTV to come forward to help us with this ongoing investigation.”
