A murder investigation has been launched after a man died in a suspected stabbing.

Devon and Cornwall Police said officers were called to a property on Sandy Lane in Brampford Speke, near Exeter, at 20:50 BST on Wednesday.

Emergency services provided medical care to a 64-year-old but police said he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 36-year-old man from London, who reportedly left the scene before being found in a nearby house, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.

Det Insp Guy Biggar, from the Major Crime Investigation Team, said: "We do believe that those involved are known to each other and I can confirm that this is being treated as an isolated matter and we are not seeking anyone else in connection to this incident."

Police cordons remain in place and anyone with information should contact the force.
