Man, 32, dies in crash with lorry on A75

A 32-year-old man has died after a crash involving an HGV on the A75 near Springholm in Dumfries and Galloway.

Police were called to the scene at about 01:15 following reports of a collision involving a silver Ford Mondeo and a white Scania HGV.

The driver of the Mondeo was pronounced dead at the scene while the 57-year-old driver of the HGV was taken to Galloway Royal Infirmary as a precaution.

The road is currently closed to allow for investigations to take place and is expected to remain closed until Friday evening.

Sgt Chris McColm of the road policing unit said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died at this very difficult time."
