Three arrests after £5.5m drug seizure in Glasgow

Police have seized drugs with an estimated street value of £5.5m in Glasgow.

More than 90kg of cocaine, 23kg of heroin, 19kgs of MDMA and around 5,800 diazepam and ecstasy tablets were recovered from a property on Curzon Street, in the Ruchill area, on Friday.

An additional 20kg of cocaine were found in a vehicle. A gun, ammunition and cash were also seized during the search.

Two men, aged 45 and 30, and a woman, aged 31, have been arrested and charged in connection with the seizure. They are due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday.

Det Supt Steven Elliott said: “This very significant recovery sends a clear message that we will not tolerate illegal drugs in our communities.

“We are determined to protect the public from this harmful criminality by disrupting the cultivation and sale of illegal substances, preventing them being circulated on the streets of Scotland and addressing the concerns of local people.

He added that information from the public is "absolutely crucial" and urged anyone with information about drug activity to .
