More bus journeys are being introduced between Market Weighton, Pocklington and York.

East Yorkshire Buses said it would offer three buses per hour during the day from 11 November.

The current X46 and X47 services would be complemented by a new X45 route, which will travel through Dunnington to restore a "much-requested" service, the firm added.

The company said the changes represented a "major improvement" and timetable information would be available soon.

'Phenomenal growth'

A newly revised 145 service, provided with financial support from East Riding of Yorkshire Council and the government, will also begin on 11 November, providing hourly connections between Market Weighton and Driffield.

Stuart Fillingham, head of commercial at East Yorkshire Buses, said: "We are pleased to respond to the phenomenal growth of the X46 and X47 routes by introducing this new service, which provides buses up to every 20 minutes between Market Weighton, Pocklington, Hull Road, and York.

"We are also delighted to return to Dunnington after a long absence. Not only will customers be able to benefit from journeys to Pocklington and Market Weighton, but they will also enjoy a new hourly service to York."

Kate Ravilious, executive member for transport at City of York Council, said: “Regular, reliable services connecting York to its surrounding towns and villages are absolutely vital to our residents and businesses, and I’m delighted to see these new and improved bus routes from East Yorkshire."
