Four arrests after fatal stabbing in Canterbury

Four men are being held in custody as part of a murder investigation after a man died following a stabbing incident in Canterbury, Kent Police said.

The victim, who was in his 20s, was found in the High Street, near its junction with St Margaret's Street, at about 23:30 BST on Thursday.

Emergency services attended but he was declared dead at the scene, police said.

The four men arrested are in their 20s.

On Friday afternoon, the force said searches had been carried out at properties in Herne Bay High Street and near Pine Tree Avenue, Canterbury, as part of ongoing inquiries.

They added they are working to reduce the size of a police cordon which was put in place in Canterbury High Street and St Margaret's Street overnight.

Ch Insp Paul Stoner said: "We understand that this incident and its location will have caused concern in the community and I would like to reassure people that we have a large team of officers and detectives working to establish the full circumstances."
