Firefighters have tackled a rubbish fire which is believed to have been caused by a bonfire.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of a pile of domestic and commercial rubbish alight in Northfleet, Gravesend, at 05:25 BST on Sunday.

Two fire engines were deployed and firefighters used hose reel jets to extinguish the flames.

β€œNo injuries were reported, and it is believed the fire was caused accidentally due to the spread of a bonfire on a building site,” a spokesman said.

Meanwhile, five fire engines were sent to a garage fire in Southfleet, Gravesend, at 19:22 on Saturday.

No injuries were reported, but the cause of the fire is not yet known, a fire service spokesman said.

Kent Police were also in attendance.
